MSDN Blog: A Touchy Subject
Very touchy these days, eh. A good discussion about what Microsoft should do or shouldn’t do in their pursuit of mobile computing market.
Seriously, I am a bit sick of iOS and Android these days. I hope to see afresh operating systems emerging anytime soon.
Microsoft Q4 2010 Earnings
Still pretty stunning results. Although it was highly anticipated, Apple was nowhere near to beat Microsoft’s revenue yet.
Microsoft Corp. today announced record fourth-quarter revenue of $16.04 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, a 22% increase from the same period of the prior year. Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $5.93 billion, $4.52 billion and $0.51 per share, which represented increases of 49%, 48% and 50%, respectively, when compared with the prior year period.
End of Sidekick

Just a day after Kin project was put to an end, T-Mobile announced today they are going to stop selling existing Sidekick phones! Sidekick, a mobile phone being produced by Microsoft after it acquired Danger, relies heavily on cloud for storing customer’s personal information. Last year, it came to close scrutiny of lawmakers when a massive cloud servers outrage wiped off sensitive data of Sidekick users!
May be, just may be. OneApp project will be shutdown soon. At least Microsoft is now attempting to recollects its resources to unify long overdue fragmented mobile strategies for Windows Mobile 7.
R.I.P Microsoft's Kin

Kin is now dead as wood. RIP.
Yes literally, it’s still on sales in US but Microsoft has just pulled out its plans to launch Kin in Europe and Asia. Due to anemic sales and some disastrous industry feedbacks, Microsoft is now merging Kin with its Windows Phone 7 teams.
Poor Robert Bach. He couldn’t save his job and now his little brainchild.
Frank Shaw's now Popular with his Numbers

To me, it’s a great attempt to pull MS back on stage. Many people are now having an impression that MS is doomed because of Apple/Google’s recent successes. (Especially numbers like “3m iPads in 80 days!”).
Microsoft is a giant, huge, gigantic tech king. And, it will never go down too soon too easily for sure.
